Venus is not from a true rescue situation, but was rather placed with us to ensure her safety.
WA Venus Afire is a 2007 National Show Horse mare standing at roughly 15hh. She is a registered Half-Arabian with the Arabian Horse Association and has Padron and Bask bloodlines. She was shown in her younger years and then was used as a lesson horse at the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. She has been ridden in English and western.
She is a very forward horse, so a true beginner would be intimidated by her willingness to go forward, but she is a very friendly and well-trained mare. An advanced beginner with a trainer would be a suitable match, however.
She is well broke at the walk, trot, and canter, though some arthritis from her show career can make her uncomfortable in the canter if pushed too hard. She absolutely LOVES trail riding. She is brave, reliable, and not worried about leaving other horses. She has crossed bridges and rivers without concern. A show life would stress her too much, and she is not a fan of the confinement of stalls, but occasional showing is not out of the question for her.
She stands for bathing, fly spray, clipping, blanketing, and farrier.
