Thoroughbred mare 20yo FREE LEASE

Sue came in as one of the skinniest mares we'd ever seen, and she was expected to be pregnant!

Not only were we afraid of her making the trip home, we didn't even know if she was going to be able to get into the trailer. She would sway when she walked because she just didn't have the strength to keep herself steady. For a while, we just let her eat some fresh grass as we wondered what we were going to do, then we decided to give it one try to see if getting her into the trailer was even possible. She jumped right in like she was saying "there's no way you're leaving me behind!". On the way home we cried for her because her journey was far from over.

Lots of supplemental feeding and lice treatments later, she was gaining weight and thriving! She lost her baby early-on but with her body-condition, it wasn't a surprise. We learned she had horrible teeth and after getting them fixed up the best we could, she really started to thrive.

Out of the three mares she came with (two who were pregnant and had their babies who are still here with us and growing) she was the first to be ridden and she was broke! She loves trail and even toted some kiddos around a 4-H horse camp!
