Oppa

Arabian Gelding

15 yrs old, 14hh

Adoption Fee: $3,000

Oppa, “Older Brother” in Korean, came to Lucky 7 Horse Rescue as a stallion. He ran through an auction with no history and ended up in the Stroud, Oklahoma lot on April 7th, 2025. He was in the pen with a mare, who was either pregnant already or about to be since she was in with him. We got them both. Both arrived with respiratory disease and were under strict quarantine for over a month until their symptoms improved. Once he was healthy enough, Oppa was gelded at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services. He was a very well-behaved stallion, so transitioning him into a field of geldings to recover from surgery and wait for his hormone levels to decrease was easy.

After giving him some decompression time, trainer Anna Hill took on the task of teaching him to pick up his feet so that he could get trimmed and start the process of getting his feet healthy for regular training and riding. At first, he was extremely nervous about the idea. Going slow and giving him time to process was essential. In just a couple sessions, he had changed from fearful to content.

Oppa went into training with Dawson Alme of Alma, WI at the beginning of February and is now back and ready to find a home!

He has been ridden on many trails and really enjoys it. A trail home would be perfect for him! He stands tied, trailers well, and no longer acts like a stallion.
