Houdini is a Standardbred/Pony cross cutie! He was an "oopsie" on the rural farm he was born at. A pony bought for a child somehow met up with a Standardbred stallion that got loose one night and boom, Houdini popped up like a magic trick!

He had been well-cared for prior to ending up at an Amish auction, which is where we were too! He was an unpopular cross, and was at-risk of ending up in less-than-desireable hands so Lucky 7 Horse Rescue swooped in and got him!

He was still a stud colt at the time, and he went to a castration clinic for vet students to learn on! After being a mostly-cooperative patient, it was back to the rescue as a gelding!

In 2025 he was taken through Step 1 of the 4-H Training Project with a 4-H youth, and he got experience in a County Fair atmosphere. 

Houdini has all the basic baby-work done with him: picking up feet, leading, tying, bathing, desensitizing, leading-through obstacle work, and trailering. He's still got the classic baby-brain and a little bit of pony stubbornness, but he also has a heart of gold and total cuddle-bug personality. If you're out in the field, he's there breathing down your neck. If you're even look like you've got food, he's sniffing those pockets.

While he won't be a big horse, he can still do plenty! With time and training, he could be a driving horse, kids or small adult pony, liberty horse, or all the above! He could strut down the trail or jump through the jumper ring! 

Houdini has just began his journey of being a riding horse. He has been lightly started at the walk, trot, and canter and is absolutely blowing it out of the water! He approaches every new challenge with confidence and cool, calm, & collected attitude. He is one exceptional little guy!
